Berhampur, Nov 19 (LocalWire): Students of Sriradhakanta High School, Kotilingi in Ganjam district’s Chikiti block today protested in front of the school against absence of teachers and demanded a permanent head master for the school.
There are 157 students from Class VIII to X studying in the upgraded high school. The school has seven against the sanctioned eight teachers but no headmaster. Two senior teachers are on leave to avoid taking charge as the headmaster.
Earlier parents had locked the school gate demanding permanent solution to the problems.
Parents alleged that as some teachers neglected their duties, the courses, including those of Class X, are yet to be completed. The students will appear the annual high school certificate examination to be held in February next year.
‘We demanded a permanent head master to control the teachers,’ said K Nilabani, sarpanch of the panchayat. He also demanded transfer of those teachers who neglected their duties.
‘These have been demanded for some months but the district administration did not fulfill them, forcing parents and students to sit on dharna,’ said a protestor.
The agitation of the students and parents, however, ended after the district education officer (DEO) Sanatan Panda assured to resolve their issues.
