Bhubaneswar, May 14 (LocalWire): Sun Temple Konark, which had suffered minor damage in cyclone Fani on May 3, was on Tuesday reopened for the public, the Archeological Survey of India (ASI) said.
Visitors were seen entering the 7th-century monument after the completion of a 12-day restoration work. An ASI team led by director general Usha Sharma had found no structural damage to the temple.
A Black Pagoda built inside the complex is a 7th-century heritage shrine, which is the main attraction.
The temple is located some 35 km from Puri, which was one of the severely hit areas in cyclone Fani.
Restoration of power and other facilities are still underway in Puri and other areas.
