Bhubaneswar, Feb 8 (LocalWire) A minor girl allegedly trafficked from Sundargarh’s Lathikata area, was rescued after two years from Rajasthan by Delhi Women Commission (DWC).
According to sources, the rescued minor girl of Adivasi community was allegedly sold to Kisan Agrawal of Rajasthan by her relative Chandra Mandal for Rs 4 lakh. She is now reportedly 8 month pregnant.
The girl, who was seeking a job in Rajasthan, became a victim of sexual exploitation and informed the same to her parents over a phone call as soon as she got a chance.
“Even after I lodged an FIR, police did not take any action,” the victim’s father complained.
According to sources, the parents tried to draw every police officer’ attention to the matter for two years, which could not bring any result. So they had to arrange money and travel to Delhi where they reached out to DWC.
Within a few days of receiving the complaint, DWC rescued the girl, along with other young girls, from the area on Thursday.
