Bhubaneswar, June 18 (LocalWire): The Supreme Court has now ordered cancellation of the proposed Puri Rath Yatra in the light of Coronavirus crisis.
The Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice SA Bobde ordered cancellation of the holy procession after a petition was filed before the apex court.
In his oral observation the CJI said that Lord Jagannath wouldn’t forgive them if the holy procession is done during such time.
The bench observed that such large gathering cannot be allowed during the crucial time.
The court said that in the larger interest of public health the Rath Yatra for the year has been cancelled.
The exact written order in the case is yet to come which may highlight more details on the instructions the court gave to the state and the temple administration.
