Berhampur, Feb 5 (LocalWire) Suspected Maoists allegedly attacked camp of a construction project at Jhiripani under Kandhamal district’s Belaghara police station limits, said police on Tuesday.
The rebels reportedly torched at least six vehicles engaged in the construction of a bridge in the area on Monday night.
Around 20 armed Maoists reportedly attacked the camp, located on the roadside of Jhiripani-Belaghara road and threatened the labourers, said police.
The vehicles torched, included tractor, mixture and escalators.
Before leaving the spot, the rebels allegedly warned the labourers to stop construction of the bridge in the area.
They also put up some hand-written posters near the site, where they warned the contractor for doing poor quality of work.
The ultras, however, did not harm to any of the five labourer present at that time.
“We are yet to receive detailed information on the incident,” said Kandhamal Superintendent of Police Prateek Singh.
It was the second attacked by suspected Maoists on camps of construction companies within a month in the district.
Last month, the red rebels had allegedly killed watchman Rabindra Mallick (45) of a camp of a road construction company at Mallikapada under Phulbani Sadara police station limits, before setting on fire five vehicles, engaged in the road construction work.
