Bhubaneswar, October 25 (LocalWire): The state government has withdrawn the suspension of senior health official Pankaj Kumar Patel and reinstated him after disciplinary action against him earlier this month sparked protests from various quarters.
Patel, who was earlier officiating as Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) Sundargarh, has been appointed senior consultant (medicine) at the Sambalpur district headquarters hospital, according to a notification issued by the state health department.
The CDMO was suspended on 13 October on allegations of lapses in implementation of the Mo Sarkar (my government) initiative in the district hospital.
His suspension had led to a six-hour bandh in Sundargarh town on 14 October.
The Odisha Medical Services Association and Sundargarh MLA Kusum Tete of the BJP had earlier called upon the state chief minister Naveen Patnaik to reinstate the senior health official.
