Jagatsinghpur, Jan 9 (LocalWire): Hundreds of students, who passed out of SVM College, here, went on an indefinite strike today protesting the fake migration and registration certificate provided to them which deprived them of higher education.
In 2015 -16, the SVM College management committee had admitted excess students in Arts, Commerce and Science streams, beyond the numbers approved by Utkal University.
The college took huge amount of donation to admit the students and issued fake university registration numbers allowing the students to take examinations conducted by Utkal University.
They were later handed over fake graduation certificates in 2018.
Due to erroneous registration numbers reflecting in their provisional certificates, none of the students could pursue higher studies.
A three-member joint inquiry team by the department of higher education, government of Odisha, had conducted a probe into the illegal admission process.
But since that yielded no result, the students have demanded a vigilance inquiry and action against errant employees.
In October 2019, they protested en masse but the college principal assured them of providing genuine certificates and they withdrew their agitation.
But after three months elapsed, they submitted a memorandum to Principal Nitarani Kar and vowed to go on an indefinite strike in front of the college unless their original migration certificate and registrations are provided by 8 January 2020.
