Baripada, August 25 (LocalWire): Residents of Darogadhai and Murgabadi areas in Baripada town remained behind shut doors as a wild tusker was roaming the NH-18, passing through on Monday morning in search of food.
Local residents out on a morning walk saw the tusker and ran away in fear.
Vehicular services on the national highway were blocked for around one hour in the early morning following the sight of the tusker.
Forest officials from Pithabata range and Deuli range of Baripada forest division were keeping watch on the movement of the wild tusker.
Divisional Forest Officer of Baripada, Swayam Kumar Mallick, informed that a wild tusker from Jharkhand had sneaked into the Baripada town area on Monday morningthrough Suliapada Section in search of food.
The tusker went way towards Bangiriposi forest area in the morning; the District Forest Officer said that the tusker is now roaming in Jhinei forest close to Deuli range.
Deuli and Bangiriposi forest personnel are keeping watch on the movement of the tusker and no untoward incident has been reported.
