Berhampur, Feb 1 (LocalWire) The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Berhampur, conducted its Annual Science Open Day “STREAM-2020” (Science to reach everyone and motivate) on Saturday to invoke an awareness of science education among the school students.
As many as 120 students from 12 different private and government-run schools and Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) participated in the STREAM-2020.
The students of the IISER have developed various scientific demonstrations, including live-experiment for the students.
The students were exposed to scientific demonstrations and hands-on-experience in diverse subjects of science such as Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics.
Yogendra Sharma, the Deputy Director of the IISER, Berhampur, urged the school students to pursue science in higher education.
An interactive session with question and answer session was also arranged, where the students asked volumes of questions and their doubts were by clarified by the IISER students and teachers.
IISERs are a group of premier science education and research institutes in the country set up by the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Central government.
IISER Berhampur, the youngest among the IISERs, (seventh) proposed to expand and diversify its mission of carrying out science education and research of the highest quality, based on the integrated view of modern science and training young students to address the challenges of the twenty-first century, said, deputy director.
The institute also organized the STREAM last year, where several students in and around Berhampur had also participated.
