Berhampur, March 14 (LocalWire) The Maharaja Krishna Chandra Gajapati Medical College and Hospital at Berhampur on Saturday launched battery-operated vehicles to ferry elderly and paraplegic from one point to another inside the hospital.
Patients will avail the services for free. It will be available round the clock, hospital superintendent Santosh Kumar Mishra said.
Earlier attendant and hospital staffs were carrying such patients on stretchers. They were facing trouble especially at the time of rains.
The hospital has outsourced the work to a Bhubaneswar based organisation to provide this service.
The medical college will pay Rs 1.20 lakh per month for each battery-operated vehicle.
Each vehicle will have a driver and two attainders and work shift wise, Sanjeev Das, in charge of the organisation here said.
