Bhubaneswar, March 30 (LocalWire): Odisha Tourism is organising a free tour of temples in the state with acclaimed historian & writer William Dalrymple for Indian and foreign tourists from April 5-8.
As part of the TempleTrail initiative, tourists will get a chance to travel with William to different temples in Bhubaneswar, monasteries in Udaygiri, Khandagiri and Ratnagiri, as well as to Konark temple.
The tour is free and open to all, the organizers said in a press release.
Odisha tourism secretary Vishal K. Dev said: “William has accepted our invitation to come and explore the temples of Odisha with tourists. I would encourage more and more people to join him in the trail.”
Dalrymple said: “I would like to thank Odisha Tourism for inviting me over. I can’t wait to return to one of my favourite states in India, and explore the magnificent temples and the exquisite cuisines.”
William Dalrymple is author of nine books about India and the Islamic world, including City of Djinns, White Mughals, The Last Mughal and Nine Lives: In Search of the Sacred in Modern India.
He also writes regularly for the New Yorker, the New York Review of Books and the Guardian, and is one of the founders and a co-director of the Jaipur Literary Festival.
