Angul, August 6 (LocalWire) Nearly two-week long labour strike at Talcher coal mine ended Tuesday afternoon as the protesters agreed to the proposal of Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd (MCL) for providing jobs and money to the kins of labourers died in a mishap.
As per the agreement, each of the deceased family will receive a sum of Rs 30 lakh and one person from the family will be provided with a contractual job first, which will be converted into permanent job after a month later.
In the meeting, officials of MCL and local villagers took part in the presence of Angul district collector.
On July 23, four labourers had died and nine others were injured while working at a coal mine operated by MCL.
The local villagers had since then halted coal transportation from the area, causing power output disruption in major stations inside and neighbouring states.
