Balasore, August 30 (LocalWire): Police in Balasore and Mayurbhanj are investigating the matter related to stealing of a moving oil tanker on Wednesday night.
According to sources, unidentified miscreants siphoned off 22,000 liters of oil after hijacking the tanker that was heading towards Angul from Haldia in Bengal.
The armed miscreants hijacked the tanker near Remuna Golai after tying the driver and helper of the truck.
According to the duo, they were freed near a jungle under Jharpokharia police station of Mayurbhanj while the miscreants sped away with the tanker.
They informed about the incident to the owner of the truck and later informed the police.
The police blocked all possible exit points in Remuna, Bangiriposhi, and Kuliana and finally detected the tanker in Kalabadia area, near a roadside, eating joint using GPS tracking system.
While the police seized the tanker, there was no fuel in it.
The police are interrogating both the helper and driver to determine their roles, sources said.
