Bhubaneswar, August 7 (LocalWire): The Tarava police station in Subarnapur district has been adjudged as one of the ten best police stations in the country in the annual ranking of police stations for the year 2018.
Of the police stations in the state, it tops the list of best performing police stations.
DGP, Dr RP Sharma, today handed over the certificate and memento to Debi Prasad Dash, SP Subarnapur and Dulamani Bhoi, IIC Tarava police station during a function at state police headquarters, Cuttack.
Earlier in the DGPs/IGPs conference 2016, it had been decided to award ten best performing police stations of the country on the basis of their performance taking various factors into consideration.
Bureau of police research and development had suggested a performance measurement system to grade the police stations.
Tarava police station got the award on the basis of this performance measurement system as it fulfilled all criteria.
Quality Council of India was entrusted to carry out the survey for grading the police stations across the country.
The criteria for measuring the best police stations included smart policing, use of technology in delivery of services, citizen-centric policing, public relations and community policing, people-friendly policing, women and child friendly policing, better grievance redressal mechanism.
A team from QCI visited Tarava and interacted with the people before finalizing the list.
They gathered inputs from general public, women, people in the SC, ST and minority community before taking a final decision in the matter, added the officials.
