Berhampur, May 31 (Localwire): The Tata Global Beverages Limited (TGBL) will set up a tea packing unit at the Tata Steel Special Economic Zone Limited (TSSEZL) in Gopalpur near here.
The ground breaking ceremony to start construction of the TGB industrial shed was held on Thursday.
The unit will have a packaging capacity of 36 million kg and will be set up with an investment of Rs 100 crore. The unit will be operational from next year.
The plant will generate employment opportunity to approximately 650 people, the company said in a release.
The ground breaking ceremony was attended by Ganjam collector Vijay Amruta Kulange, SP Brijesh Kumar Rai, TGBL’s vice president-operations (south Asia) S.S. Malhotra and TSSEZL chairman and VP (RM) Tata Steel Arun Mishra, among others.
Tata Global Beverages is world’s second largest tea company and has presence in over 40 countries. The company has interests in tea, coffee and water.
TSSEZL, a 100% subsidiary of TATA Steel Ltd, is developing its flagship industrial park in Gopalpur, Odisha.
The company plans to develop the park as a manufacturing hub for domestic and export-oriented industries. It will provide infrastructure and associated services to facilitate the plants.
