Bhubaneswar, Oct 24 (LocalWire): Aimed at creating awareness and understanding about environmental issues among school students, Tata Steel BSL launched ‘The Green School Project’ of Tata Steel in association with New Delhi based ‘The Energy and Resources Institute’ (TERI) at Nuahata Upgraded High School, under Banarpal block.
Abhimanyu Sethi, Block Education Officer, Odapada, Lalit Mohan Sahu, BEO, Banarpal, Manikant Naik, Chief, Corporate Services, Tata Steel BSL, Saroj Banerjee, Chief, Environment, Tata Steel BSL, Livleen K Kahlon, Associate Director, TERI were present during the formal launch of the programme.
The project aims to create awareness and sensitize students, teachers and community on issues related to environment through classroom teaching and outdoor activities.
The project focuses on empowering the next generation through distinct pedagogy, green curricula and project-based learning.
Since 2017, the project has been running successfully in 40 schools in different parts of the country within operational areas of Tata Steel.
In Phase III, four schools of Angul and Dhenkanal districts, Kusupanga Nodal High School, Kurunti UP School, SSS High School Kurunti, Nuahata Upgraded High School, Gopabandhu High School, Khaliberana and UP School, Khaliberana have been added.
