Berhampur, Nov 17 (LocalWire) The Tata Global Beverages Limited (TGBL), a multinational non-alcoholic beverages company, will set up a tea packing unit in Goplapur Industrial Park with an investment of nearly Rs 100 crore.
The TGBL has signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with Tata Steel Special Economic Zone Ltd. (TSSEZL) for setting up the unit with a capacity of 36 million kg.
The tea packaging plant will cater to TGBL’s Indian market and is scheduled to be operational by 2020. It will be operated by a third-party operator, nominated by TGBL. On full capacity, the plant will generate an employment for approximately 650 persons, sources said.
The LOI exchange took place between S S Malhotra, vice president, Operations (South Asia), TGBL and TSSEZL Managing Director Ashish Mathur, recently at Bhubaneswar during the Make in Odisha Conclave 2018.
Gopalpur Industrial Park, a flagship industrial park of Tata Steel Special Economic Zone Limited (TSSEZL), is located on National Highway 16 near Berhampur.
With plug and play infrastructure, multi-modal logistics connectivity, ready environmental clearance and clear land title, Gopalpur Industrial park is emerging as an ideal investment destination in the eastern part of the country, said Mathur. .
“Our aim is to develop Gopalpur Industrial Park as the most preferred manufacturing hub for industries in this part of the country,” he said.
At present, 55,000 tons per annum ferro chrome plant by Tata Steel, a defense manufacturing unit by Sure Safety Solutions Pvt. Ltd. and a metal based manufacturing unit by B S Minerals Pvt. Ltd are operating in the Industrial Park, sources said.
