Berhampur, August 19 (LocalWire): School authorities in Ganjam district’s Khallikote block have served a show-cause notice to a primary school teacher who allegedly violated the dress code for teachers and wore jeans and white full sleeve shirt during his duty hours.
Block Education Officer also ordered holding up a day’s salary of the errant
BEO Khallikote Amrit Pritinanda served a showcause notice to Purna Chandra Jani, assistant teacher of Chikili Nodal Upper Primary School, when she found him without the prescribed uniform while she monitored the school last Saturday.
In the showcause notice the BEO said Jani was casual when queried about violation of the dress code, which proved that he was not serious regarding government guidelines and has a casual attitude to government rules and regulations.
‘Your one day salary on Saturday will be held up until your rectification regarding uniform,’ she said in the notice.
It has been alleged that Jani, who joined the school as a teacher in 2005 never followed rules and had a habit of wearing dresses of his choice.
School and mass education department has prescribed a dress code for teachers since 2010 to maintain discipline and decorum among them.
While a primary male teacher has to wear black trousers and sky blue shirt, female teachers wear pink colour sarees.
