Bhubaneswar, Dec 16 (LocalWire): The progress made in technology notwithstanding, man’s intellect and overall health is facing rapid decline, an eminent expert in computer science said today.
‘By 2050, around 70 per cent of the world’s population is expected to suffer from mental issues,’ Prof. Raj Kumar Buyya, director of Cloud Computing and Distributed Systems (CLOUDS) laboratory at the University of Melbourne, said during the inauguration of the two-day International Conference on Intelligent and Cloud Computing (ICICC 2019) here today.
‘One should devote attention to spiritual matters as well to protect oneself,’ he said.
Prof. Buyya said international companies and banks were interested to work in India and students who preferred to go overseas in search of jobs earlier are now trying to build their careers at home.
He said this was the era of internet of things, intelligent computing, cloud computing and analytics which could together achieve many goals. Referring to Bhubaneswar becoming a smart city, Prof. Buyya said if all these resources could be put together it could take forward the concept of smart city, smart transport and smart agriculture.
