Sambalpur, Sept 29 (LocalWire): Police launched simultaneous operations across Sambalpur city and arrested ten historysheeters with weapons in their possession during a special drive against crime mongers ahead of Durga Puja.
The arrested criminals were planning to commit dacoity when police acting on tip-off nabbed them from Ainthapali, Dhanupali and Khetrajpur localities of the city.
The criminals identified as Shiba Pradhan (22), Tinku Ganda (29), Mohammad Juman (21), Nikhil Munda (30), Mahadev Munda (30), Ranjan Patra (22), Nishant Kumar Singh (27), Md Samir (23), Md Kallo, Md Chand (21) were later remanded to judicial custody under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code.
A special drive is underway against anti-socials to avert possible breach of peace during the festivities.
Identified lawbreakers would also be booked under Section 110 of Cr PC as part of maintenance of law and order situation, police said.
