Berhampur, January 7 (Localwire): Raising question marks at the security and the environment of the government-run Child Care Home (CIH), at least 13 inmates of the Utkal Balashram here, escaped from the premises late night on Monday.
The escaped girls include rape victims and children in need of parents (CNP), sources said.
The children used the back gate of the institute to escape from the Utkal Balashram premises, while the guard was stationed at the front gate.
The reason behind their escape of the inmates from the house was not immediately known, district child protection officer Subodh Sarangi said.
He further added that officials of the Balasharam have intimated the police about the incident and different teams were searching for the escaped girls.
The police stated that they started an inquiry into the incident.
