Baripada, July 5 (LocalWire): Following age-old custom, Baripada will celebrate Rath Yatra today, a day after the grand Rath Yatra at Srimandir.
The chariots of the Holy Trinity will be pulled to Mausi Maa temple for two days, starting today, as per Ditiya Sreekhetra, the unique tradition of Haribaldev Jew Temple.
The Rath Yatra festival is celebrated here for three days.
While the Pahandi Bije ritual of the Trinity was done yesterday, chariots will be pulled today and tomorrow.
The chariot-pulling of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra will be done by midday.
The chariot of Lord Balabhadra will be taken to Gundicha (Mausi maa) temple today while the rath of Devi Subhadra, which is pulled only by women, will be stopped mid-way and will be pulled towards Mausi Maa temple tomorrow along with Lord Jagannath’s chariot.
Yesterday, the care taker (dasi) of Goddess Ambika, the village’s deity, swept Devi Subhadra’s chariots and later, offered prayers to her.
Then, the Rath pratisha (inauguration) ritual of the three chariots was conducted by Purohits before the holy trinity ascended on them.
During Pahandi, with the ringing of bells and cymbals, the servitors first escorted Lord Balabhadra inside the chariot and then Devi Subhadra and Lord Jagannath were escorted.
After all the rituals were over, the devotees were allowed for darshan.
As per tradition, Lord Balabhadra’s chariot will be pulled till Radha Mohan temple. Only then, Devi Subhadra Chariot will be pulled to the city police station.
The devotees will gather to pull Devi Subhadra’s Darpadalana and Lord Jagannath’s Nandighosa to Gundicha temple on Saturday.
