Berhampur, July 9 (LocalWire): A local court here today sentenced three people from Malatibadi village in Ganjam district to life imprisonment for murdering a man from the same village 19 years ago.
Additional district and sessions judge (second) Deepak Kumar pronounced the
sentence to Shankulia Nahak, Bulu Nahak and Prasanna Nahak for murdering Dilli Nahak on 13 June 2000 after 9 witnesses were questioned by the court.
Another accused, identified as Koka Nahak is absconding since the incident occurred.
The court also slapped a fine Rs 5000 to each of the accused.
In case of default, they would undergo one year rigorous imprisonment, said associate public prosecutor (APP)Kuresh Gouda.
The accused had previous enmity with Dilli Nahak and attacked him and his wife Sari with sharp weapons and bamboo sticks.
Dilli died on the spot while his wife sustained injuries.
Police arrested the three accused after the incident while the main accused Koka fled. The
accused were out on bail for some years, officials said.
