Kendrapara, June 20 (LocalWire): The Special Task Force (STF) of the crime branch on Wednesday arrested three people, including two brothers of the notorious gangster Usman Ali alias Tito from near his residence at Dilarapur locality in Kendrapara.
“We arrested Syed G Babu and Syed Chito, the brothers of Tito and Sk Muna from the residence of Tito in Kendrapada for their alleged involvement in many crimes including murder, attempted murder, fixing of tenders, robbery and extortion the district and nearby areas,” Crime Branch superintendent of police Prasant Kumar Bhoi said.
Tito was arrested after an encounter with the Special Task Force (STF) of the crime branch on 30 June last year.
An investigation by the Crime Branch has also brought to forth cases abuse of power by some government officials in extending undue favour, causing wrongful loss to the government and gain to Tito, his family members, and associates.
Officials of the special cell of state vigilance department have also seized several incriminating documents from the offices of irrigation department, district sub-registrar, civil supplies office, rural works division, Rural Water Supply and Sanitation department, Roads and Buildings department and a private bank in Kendrapada.
“It has also come to our notice that some officials have illegally leased the river bed to the gangster and his associates for sand mining. We are investigating all the cases of irregularities and letters have been issued to the Tehasildars of Kendrapada, Mahakalapada, Pattamundai, Garadpur and Marsaghai in Kendrapada district and Dharmasala and Balichandrapur of Jajpur district to provide us will complete information and documents related to the tendering process for sand mining in the area,” the officer said.
