Balasore, December 7 (LocalWire): Three teachers have been suspended while show-cause notice has been issued to another three in connection with mismanagement and alleged booth tampering in two booths during the recently concluded bye-poll in Shradhapur GP, here.
The order was issued by district collector K Sudarshan Chakravarthy against the six teachers who were involved in the polling process at the booth number 12 in village Kanya Nagari and booth number 14 in village Khadibil held on 27 November.
Although the polling process was completed peacefully, there was chaos while the ballot boxes were being deposited in the block office as some people alleged tampering at these two booths.
According to sources, in the melee, some ballot papers were thrown on the ground by miscreants as they snatched the ballot boxes.
Later, the sub-collector Nilu Mohaptra rushed to the site and pacified the tensed locals.
Mohaptra also submitted a report to the collector recommending re-poll in these two booths, mentioning the error on part of the polling officers, after which polling was held again at these two booths on 29 November.
An inquiry was also conducted on the incident by the block development officer and three teachers Kamal lochan Patra of Sridurga Pallibhumi High School, Sukumar Mohanty of Dahinanidhibandu UP School and Tapas Singh of Kalyanpur UP School were suspended.
Similarly, Chittaranjan Sahu of Analia School, Tapan Pradhan of Bagarukhi School and Rasalpur Cluster Resource Centre coordinator Abanti Jena were issued show-cause notice by the district collector.
