Bhubaneswar, May 14 (LocalWire): The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted thunderstorms with light to moderate rainfall over one or two places in the coastal districts of Odisha, over the next 4 days.
The bulletin informed that the low-pressure area reported over the Bay of Bengal on May 13th is now a “Well Marked Low-Pressure Area” over the south-east Bay of Bengal and its neighbourhood.
This is likely to intensify into a Depression by May 15th and a Cyclonic Storm (over the same area) by May 16th.
A yellow warning of thunderstorms with lighting and moderate to light rainfall has been issued for the coastal districts of Koraput, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Malkangiri, Nawarangpur, Kalahandi, Nayagarh, Bhadrak, Balasore, Boudh, Dhenkanal & Angul.
Heavy rainfall over the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara has been predicted for the 18th of May.
A warning has been issued for fishermen to not venture into the deep-sea area of South and Central Bay of Bengal from 15th May onwards; those who are in such areas have been advised to return.
Fishermen have also been advised not to venture out off the coast of Odisha and North Bay of Bengal from 18th May onwards; those who are at sea have been advised to return.
The maximum and minimum temperatures of Bhubaneswar have been recorded at 36.2 and 26.2 degrees Celsius respectively.
