Bhubaneswar, June 16 (Local Wire): The state government is now all set to return tigress Sundari to Madhya Pradesh who was brought to the state from MP under the country’s first inter-state tiger relocation project.
The Madhya Pradesh government has now received communication from the Odisha government to take back the tigress as per the protocol of tiger relocation.
This came after the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) asked the Odisha government to shift the tigress back to the Bandhavgarh National Park in MP.
The tigress was earlier shifted to the Satkosia Tiger Reserve under the inter-state tiger relocation plan which was planned in phased manner.
While earlier another tiger Mahaveer was found dead in Satkosia, Sundari faced the wrath of the local population after it killed two citizens.
The state government had then shifted her to rehabilitation enclosure.
In the backdrop of violation of Standard Operating Protocol, the the NTCA has now asked the state to return the tiger to MP.
