Bhubaneswar, January 4 (LocalWire) In major embarrassment to chief minister Naveen Patnaik, his office recently issued a press release attributing a statement to him that “violence is Mahatma Gandhi’s biggest contribution to mankind.”
The CM obviously had said and meant “non-violence”.
Though his office issued a clarification, the damage was done with many questioning the casual manner on which the work was handled.
The press release pertained to his speech on the occasion of 33rd Freedom Fighters’ Mahotsav, an event to commemorate the freedom fighters’ contribution, in Bhubaneswar.
This is not the first such mistake in recent days.
On December 26, 2019 when BJD celebrated its foundation day there was confusion as the official twitter handle of BJD twitted it as 23rd foundation day.
The BJD handle on 2018 foundation had twitted it as 21st foundation day while the Patnaik-led regional party had celebrated the 2017 foundation day as 20th foundation day with a mega event at Puri.
That way the party never celebrated the 22nd foundation day.
On December 8, when president Ramnath Kovind laid foundation stone of Paika Revolt memorial at Barunei hill near Khurda, the CM had twitted wrongly mentioning that the revolt happened in 1827.
The rebellion dates back to 1817.
