Balasore, Oct 29 (LocalWire) Touts have devised a new tactic to deceive tent house owners and caterers, who supply utensils and other materials on rent for organising different functions in Balasore district.
In such an incident under Sahadevkhunta police station here, a group of youths had approached a caterer identified as Tapan Das of Bhaskarganj seeking supply of utensils for preparing ‘Prasad’ (vegetarian food) for 3,000 persons at a nearby temple which would be distributed among poor and distressed people.
Das , in good faith and without any security had let them to take the utensils.
However, when they didn’t return the utensils, Das went to the temple and verified whether the foods were already prepared.
But, he was surprised after being told by the temple priest that no such programme was there at all.
After learning that he has been deceived, Das lodged a police complaint.
Meanwhile, in another such incident in Bhograi area of the district, unknown miscreants have deceived a caterer of Sanadaha .
Using the same ploy , a group of persons took utensils from the caterer stating that they would be preparing and distributing ‘prasads’ at Chandaneswar Shiva temple but they never turned up to return the materials.
Inquiry into both the incidents was continuing and efforts are on to identify and nab the persons involved, police said.
