Bhubaneswar, August 9 (LocalWire): The train services that were suspended for more than 48 hours following landslide-induced damage to rail tracks between Dolkalu and Ambadola stations in Rayagada-Titlagarh section under Sambalpur rail division resumed today, officials of Sambalpur railway division said.
The engineers and workers of track maintenance wing braved rain and adverse weather conditions to complete the track repair work yesterday midnight hours.
“The train services were resumed early morning today with the movement of a goods train. The passenger trains will resume its services by afternoon,” Sambalpur Railway Division public relation officer Nihar Ranjan Mishra told the LocalWire.
As heavy rain washed away soil and ballast below the tracks between Dolkalu and Ambadola on Wednesday morning, at least four trains were canceled, eight diverted and half-a-dozen trains were partially canceled, the official said.
“Extensive cinder, mud and sand packing were placed below the surface of damaged tracks to make it operational and fit for train movement. It’s double line track which had borne the brunt of the heavy downpour.
The landslide had severely twisted around a 70-meter track of the up line and 50-meter track on the down line,” he explained.
