Berhampur, March 19 (Localwire): Several transgenders in Berhampur city in Ganjam district have now chipped in to help in fighting the spread of Coronavirus in their region.
The region otherwise is know to be a leading site for migrations.
Several groups of the third gender on Thursday flocked the Berhampur railway station, interacted with the passengers arriving on the railway station.
They also distributed masks and tried to create awareness among them who entered into the state from outside
“We have some social responsibility to create awareness among the people to help fight the global pandemic together.
Since the people who are coming to the state from outside the state are more vulnerable, we came to educate them about to the dos and don’ts on COVID 19,” said Sweety, a transgender from the city.
They also advised the returnees to visit the nearby hospitals, in case they were suffering from fever, cough and cold.
On the other hand, political party volunteers also jumped onto the bandwagon.
