Berhampur: March 1(Localwire) As many as ten students of College of Fisheries, Rangeilunda, of Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) on Sunday visited the Centre for Aquaculture Development (CAD) of Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Bangkok, Thailand for a three month long International Internship Programme( IIP).
Final year students of the Bachelor in Fishery Science, consisting of six girls and four boys of the college have been sent to AIT Bangkok for three months under the National Agriculture Higher Education Programme (NAHEP) of the Word Bank-Indian Council of Agriculture and Research (ICAR) funded Institutional Development Plan (IDP).
“Besides the fishery students, the students of veterinary (4) have also been sent to Nebraska in USA under the project on Sunday.
Earlier the students of agriculture and agriculture engineering of the OUAT had gone to International Rice Research Institute IRRI), Philippines and Nebraska in USA under the project,” said the principal investigator of the project Ram Das of College of Agriculture and Engineering and Technology (CAET) of OUAT.
“During their stay at Bangkok, they will visit the modern laboratories in AIT and inspect the method of aquaculture in Thailand,” said director, College of Fisheries, Soumendra Nanda.
The selection of the students was made through a three round test.
Final selection was made through an interview by a committee headed by the Vice Chancellor of the OUAT, PK Agrawal.
Nanda said, “all the expenditure of the students would be borne by the University under the project.”
