Berhampur, October 23 (LocalWire): The police on Tuesday arrested two persons in separate cases of rape on minors in Ganjam district.
Mangulu Nayak (22) of a village under Gangapur police station limits was arrested for raping and impregnating a 13-year old girl. The girl, a student of class seven in a local school, is suspected to be eight-month pregnant.
“Her exact stage of pregnancy would be known only after getting the medical test report,” sources in the police said.
The accused, who was working as a labourer outside the state used to rape the girl from time to time, whenever he returned to the village.
“The accused was arrested after the mother of the survivor filed a complaint,” Gangapaur police station inspector-in-charge Dhiresh Das said, adding that the medical test of both the accused and victim has been conducted.
In a similar case, the police arrested a 23-year old man of a village under K Nuagaon police station limits for raping a nine-year-old girl on Monday.
The accused, Litu Sahu is a farm labourer and neighbor of the girl. “He committed the crime when no one was in the house,” K Nuagon police station inspector-in-charge Madhaba Nand Nayak stated.
Nayak further disclosed that the father of the girl lodged a complaint after she disclosed the incident to him.
The victim also sustained external injuries in her private parts, police said, adding that medical tests of both the accused and victim have been done.
Further investigation will be done after getting the medical reports, police said.
Police said both the accused persons were booked under different sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act and IPC.
