Balasore, November 13 (LocalWire): The Nilgiri police on Tuesday have arrested two persons here on charges of gang-raping a widow from village Baigadia.
Those arrested have been identified as 25-year old Tapan Singh and 19-year old Bapunu Singh, while the search is still on for the third accused Kuntha Singh (32), police sources said.
According to the FIR filed by the woman, she had approached Bapunu of her village Baigadia for a job recently and he had introduced her to Tapan and Kuntha, and the duo had promised to get her job in Khantapara area.
On the night of 7 November, Tapan and Kuntha asked her to come with them to a factory in Khantapara and she accompanied them on their motorbike.
However, they stopped on the way at Gadabhangapada near a pond and sexually assault her at a secluded place along the national highway.
The accused duo fled from the place after committing the offence, leaving her at the place.
The woman managed to reach her village the next morning and informed about her ordeals, following which a village meeting was held and the accused were summoned, but they did not come.
On Tuesday a group of villagers, comprising SHGs approached the police to report the incident.
The Nilgiri police after registering a case sent the victim for medical examinations and in a late-night raid nabbed the two accused persons, sources stated.
