Berhampur, May 10 (LocalWire): Police arrested two men from Katabadi village under Kandhamal district’s Daringibadi police station limits on Thursday for abducting and killing an eight-year-old boy.
Police recovered the decomposed body of Ritesh Pradhan, son of Debananda Pradhan, who had gone missing since 5 May.
Minaketan Pradhan and Sumsan Pradhan of the same village were arrested after interrogation, where they confessed of the crime.
The duo led the police to the jungle where they had throttled the child.
Police said Minaketan was the prime accused as he had hired Sumsan for Rs 50,000 to kill the boy. ‘We are investigating the exact cause of the incident,’ he said.
Inspector in-charge, Daringibadi police station, Alekha Garadia, said prima facie it seems previous enmity between the boy’s father and the prime accused over landed property is the reason behind the murder of the boy.
The boy’s father had lodged a missing report in the police station last Monday, when the family members did not find the child even after extensive search.
During primary investigation, police detained the duo, as they were spreading a rumour that two unknown people had taken the boy on their motorbike.

Police said the boy was playing when the accused kidnapped him. They killed him and hid the body inside a cave in the hill to destroy evidence.
