Berhampur, Sept 19 (LocalWire): Security personnel have busted two Maoist camps in the dense forests of Kandhamal district.
The incident took place in Pokharibandh forest under Baliguda police station limits on Tuesday and Wednesday, said the SP of Kandhamal, Vinit Agrawal, on Friday.
Three country-made weapons with slings, plastic boxes, medicines, rations, Maoist uniforms (two shirts), haversacks (2), Maoist literature and around two meters of electric wires were seized from both the camps.
The ultras managed to escape from both the spots taking advantage of the dense forest and hilly terrain, said SP.
The anti-Maoist operation was carried out jointly by the Special Operations Group (SOG) and District Volunteer Force (DVF).
Combing operations are being continued in the vulnerable areas of the district since September 9, when five Maoists were gunned down following an exchange of fire between the security forces and the ultras in the Kandhamal-Kalahandi border area.
In the month of July, at least seven ultras-the members of the KKBN (Kalahandi-Kandhamal-Boudh-Nayagarh) of the CPI (Maoist) were gunned down by the security forces in Sirla jungle in Kandhamal district’s Tumudibandh police station limits in two separate gun-battles.
