Berhampur, November 23 (LocalWire): With two more teachers resigning from the service on Saturday, the number of teachers who have recently quit their jobs in the Ganjam district has increased to nine.
Sources indicate that the teachers who have secured the job by submitting fake educational certificates might have resigned from the services fearing legal action against them.
The district administration, however, clarified that legal action would be taken against all those who are found to have submitted fake certificates, even if they resign from the services.
According to the district collector Vijay Amruta Kulange, the administration was continuing the certificate verification process of the teachers.
“It would take us some more time to identify teachers who have secured the job by providing fake certificates,” he added.
“The district authority has received complaints against 71 primary teachers for using the fake educational certificates. Of them FIR has been lodged against seven persons after detail verification of their certificates,” district education officer (DEO) Sanatan Panda said, adding that overall nine primary school teachers have resigned so far, sending resignation letters through the post.
“The department has already lodged FIR against two out of the nine resigned teachers,” he stated.
Earlier the government had asked the district administrations to verify the certificates of the teachers following the allegations relating to the submission of fake certificates by some candidates during recruitment.
