Bhubaneswar, Oct 15 (LocalWire): Officials from the directorate of revenue intelligence seized 400 packets of imported cigarettes from two passengers at Biju Patnaik International Airport here today.
Acting on a tip off about the illegal consignment, the DRI officials detained two passengers travelling from Malaysia in an Air Asia flight and seized the packets valued at Rs 12 lakhs from their checked-in baggage.
During the search, it was also found that the cigarette packets were without the mandatory statutory warning against smoking printed or affixed on them.
The consignment was being carried to Kolkata from Kuala Lumpur.
Further interrogation is continuing, sources said without divulging the identity of the passengers.
