Berhampur, July 16 (LocalWire): A sessions court here today sentenced two people from Gajapati district to 15 years rigorous imprisonment for illegally transporting 171 kilo ganja two years ago after recording the statements of three witnesses and studying the circumstantial evidences.
The first additional district and sessions judge Sanjay Sahu also slapped a fine of Rs 1.50 lakh on each of the accused.
In case they fail to realize the amount, the accused persons will have to serve two more years of RI, said associate public prosecutor Anil Sahu.
The accused identified as Dillip Kumar Adhikary of Panaguda and Methus Nayak of Digasarangi village under Mohana police station limits had transported the contraband in six bags from Mohana to Berhampur.
Excise personnel, however, caught them at Punjikanyan Chhaka, near Digapahandi during checking.
