Bhubaneswar, July 24 (LocalWire): Look before you take the academic leap. If you are ready to enroll in agriculture technology and alternative medicine institutes in Baripada and Rourkela, give it a second thought. University Grants Commission (UGC) has listed these institutes as fake and has warned students not to be swayed by their fictitious claims.
Two universities – North Orissa University of Agriculture & Technology (Odisha), Baripada and Indian Institute of Alternative Medicine, Institute of Alternative Medicine and Research, Nababharat Shiksha Parishad (Rourkela) figure in the UGC’s list of fake universities.
23 self-styled, unrecognised institutions are functioning across the country in contravention of the UGC Act. Two such institutions are functional in the state as per the findings of the Anti-Malpractice Cell (AMPC) of the UGC, according to officials.
The government has the UGC’s report regarding the fake universities operating in the state and has issued advisories to aspiring students to abide by UGC’s instructions and not to take admission in these institutions operating from Baripada and Rourkela, said Niranjan Sahu, director, higher education.
