Paradip, August 26 (LocalWire): Hundreds of unemployed engineers under the banner of Paradip Unemployed Engineers Association today took out a mass bike rally demanding that they be provided jobs in the new industries that are coming up in the vicinity of Paradip and neighbouring areas.
The association president Gautam Prasad Mishra led the bike rally from Jayadev Sadan to ADM office, Paradip and submitted a memorandum to ADM, Paradip, Kanhu Charan Dhir urging him to fulfill their demands.
They also sought the intervention of the state government to direct industries to engage local engineers based on their academic qualifications.
They said necessary arrangements should be made to engage 70 percent unemployed engineers in industries or other organizations which have been set up in Jagatsinghpur district.
Several small and medium industries are flourishing in Paradip while many are still in the pipeline.
Despite these industries, hundreds of engineers have been deprived of job opportunities.
These units engage engineers from outside the state neglecting local engineers.
As local engineers are deprived of jobs, they formed the association.
The engineers mostly hail from poor families and after completing their courses with limited resources, they couldn’t get secure jobs as they were not allowed interviews.
Many state governments have made strict rules to engage local engineers when new industries are set up.
Recently, Andhra Pradesh government formed new rules to engage 75 percentage local people in the new set ups.
