Bhubaneswar, Sept 8 (LocalWire): Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan has written to the Minister of Railways Piyush Goyal, requesting him to consider the resumption of Shramik Special train services from Odisha.
Resumption of Shramik trains from Odisha would help migrant workers return to their workplaces in other states, the Minister wrote.
“As the lockdown is being lifted across the nation, there is a need for migrant workers to avail of rail services in order to reach their workplaces.
Representations have been made to me from various migrants, who wish to return to their workplaces.
Even though some employers have offered to arrange buses, a long journey via road during the monsoon season is not feasible nor safe for long distances,” wrote Pradhan.
As these migrant workers are in urgent need of livelihood, Pradhan has requested the personal intervention of Piyush Goyal for the resumption of Shramik trains from Odisha to states like Gujarat, Karnataka and Maharashtra.
