New Delhi, Sept 25 (LocalWire): US-based global information-content and technology company ProQuest has honoured Odisha-born Dr Nihar K Patra in a function at New Delhi for his innovative library services.
Patra, who works at Nalanda University, Rajgir, Bihar as University Librarian, was honoured with Innovative Librarian (East) during the ProQuest Day event last week.
Nalanda University is an avant-garde international university with 17 participating countries.
During his 19-year-career as a librarian he has been known for using innovative tools and technologies to facilitate information both in print and digital and to meet the teaching, research, training, consultancy and learning requirement of different institutions.
Dr Patra has setup at least three state-of-the-art libraries from scratch. During the function he also shared his thoughts as a panel member on the topic ‘Dissertations: How disseminating theses through PQDT Global helps to maximise research impact.’
Dr Patra adopted a village at Lathor, Odisha, under the Village Adoption Programme with a group of B.Tech and M.Tech students.
He educates farmers at the grassroots level and also encourages them and the local youth to turn entrepreneurs and to his credit, several farmers have turned entrepreneurs.
He has also digitally documented popular traditional food recipes and traditional storage and food preservation methods of the associated villages/regions.
