Bhubaneswar, Feb 14 (Localwire): The Commissionerate Police has made elaborate arrangements in the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar In a bid to avoid fringe groups from indulging in anti-social activities on Valentine’s Day on Thursday.
As the Kalinga Sena are allegedly getting ready to be active on the day for catching love birds at parks ad malls, the administration has decided to deploy 15 platoons of police force across several public places, including parks and shopping malls, police sources said on Thursday.
Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs), Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) and Inspectors-in-Charge (IICs) have been asked to remain alert.
Police Commissioner Satyajit Mohanty informed that strict action will be taken against those indulging in anti-social and criminal activities during the day.
There will be 24-hr mobile patrolling by PCR vans and a number of police personnel will be deployed in and around public places in plain clothes across the city, Mohanty said.
He requested youngsters to celebrate the day “decently” and avoid any “obscenity” which might lead to untoward incidents.
Nari Sakha, Kalinga Sena’s women wing, had earlier warned that those celebrating Valentine’s Day would be handed stinging nettle (Bichuati).
The parks will remain closed as a precautionary measure but restaurants and cafes would welcome guests with interesting offers and discounts.
