Berhampur, Jan 31 (Localwire): Earlier this morning, the 5T secretary VK Pandian announced a makeover for the Shakti Shrine Tara Tarini on his visit to the Ganjam district where he reviewed the ongoing projects and interacted with the temple development committee.
Pandian asked the district administration to expedite all major ongoing projects of the temple before the beginning of the Chaitra Mela. The year, the Chaitra Mela will begin from March 10.
Protection slop to the temple with an estimated cost of Rs 23.46 crore is being executed by the Rural Works Department and is expected to be completed by May, 2020.
“We have given proposal for a permanent bus-stand and beautification work for the temple,” said Pramod Kumar Panda, the secretary of Tara Tarini Development Board (TTDB).
Tara Tarini, the twin Goddess, is the local deity of Ganjam people and thousands of people come to the temple every Tuesday of month of Chaitra.
After reviewing the temple works, Panda also made a surprise visit to over 25 government-run high schools in the Hinjili Block under the chief minister’s constituency.
He held discussions with the local people, teachers as well as students for the betterment of the school infrastructure and ate mid-day meal with the students at Makarajhol.
The development package for the famous temple is likely to be declared after the chief minister visits some shrines and temples across the state.
Before filing his nomination papers from the Hinjili constituency, Patnaik always performs a ritual ahead of every assembly election.
The 5T secretary was accompanied by collector Vijya Amruta Kulange, Sidharth Sekhar Swain- the project director of DRDA, and other officers.
