Bhubaneswar, December 30 (LocalWire) A vigilance team On Monday caught 2009-batch IAS officer Bijay Ketan Upadhyaya red handed while he was accepting a bribe of one lakh rupees from a farm for clearing a pending bill, officials said.
Upadhyaya works as director horticulture.
Harassed over the extortion tactics, the complainant had informed the vigilance sleuths. Accordingly a trap was laid.
Details of the high-profile trap case are still awaited. Upadhyaya could not be reached for comment.
In a period spanning from 2010 till date, Odisha government has registered cases under prevention of corruption act against 11 IAS officers and 227 State civil servants, the government had told the assembly in July last.
Of them Vinod Kumar has already been convicted of corruption charge by vigilance court.
In February, 2017, IAS officer Partha Sarathi Mishra had been arrested by vigilance sleuths on corruption charges.
The inglorious list of IAS officers against whom charge-sheets have been filed are Ambika Prasad Mishra, Alekh Chandra Padhiary, and Debraj Mishra.
Corruption cases have been filed against five more bureaucrats.
However charge sheets are yet to be framed against them.
