Jajpur, Nov 28 (LocalWire): Odisha villagers have come together to make a bamboo bridge over Bramahani river, solving long-standing communication problem in Jajpur district.
Around 12,000 residents of Kusabata, Kalakhanda, Swainkhanda, Jamapada, Balia, Paramnandapur, Isanapur, Kharipadia, Kimbhiriapala, Balichanchia, Dhalsahi, Maladav and Junanga villages under Bari block of Jajpur worked together to construct this bridge.
“Two weeks back, we started motivating the locals to make the bridge on our own and requesting them to provide resources and labour. The villagers donated around Rs 40000 and 300 bamboos. We purchased around 400 pieces of bamboos and plastic ropes with the money,” said Gadadhar Dalei of Jununga village.
“At least 50 villagers of the area worked without wages to construct a 120 meter long and six feet wide bamboo bridge in only ten days,” he added.
