The deer got trapped in a prawn ghery net on Wednesday while grazing at a local paddy field and were struggling for life.
After rescuing the animals, the villagers informed the local forest guards of Hawakhana forest beat of Gadharishpur.
Nearly 150 deer live at Sailo forest area under Balikuda-Erasama police limit.
According to sources, animals, especially spotted deer, face acute shortage of fodder and water in this area. Hence, they come out in search of food to nearby villages like Goda, Kadalibari, Olara, Gadharishpur and Padmapur.
