Sambalpur, Aug 27 (LocalWire): Due to the rising water levels in the Hirakud Reservoir, floodwater is now pumping through 44 gates, dam officials said on Saturday.
The dam has a maximum water holding capacity of 630 feet, while the reservoir currently has a water level of 626.47 feet.
The reservoir receives 8,79,407 cusecs of water per second, while 6,95,172 cusecs of water is discharged every second.
Mundali has 9,18,383 cusecs of water flowing per second.
As a result, the water level in Mundali is slowly rising.
4,48,734 cusecs of water is flowing through Naraj, at which Mahanadi has crossed the danger level.
While the danger level of Mahanadi is at 26.41 m, the water level is currently at 26.51 m.
Similarly, 4,23,514 cusecs of water is flowing through Jobra.
The Bhattarika temple was submerged in the floodwaters of the river Mahanadi. As a result, the temple idol has been relocated.
The river Subarnarekha has dropped below the danger mark at Rajghat; wherein the danger level is at 10.36 metres, the water level at Rajghat is currently 10.32 metres. The gold line has dropped below the danger mark at Rajghat.
The Brahmani river has crossed the danger mark at Alva.
The danger level here is at 16.6 feet, while waters are currently flowing at 19 feet.
