Berhampur, Dec 1 (LocalWire): A water sports facility was revived today with the tourism development department pitching in after staying closed for six years at Tampara, near Chhatrapur in Ganjam.
Local MLA (Chhatrapur) Subash Chandra Behera inaugurated the water sports complex in presence of district Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange and other officials.
ABC, an Andhra Pradesh-based company has been appointed by the government to look after the operation and maintenance of the water sports complex for the next 10 years.
The water sports facilities in Tampara were disrupted after its infrastructure was damaged by the super cyclone Phailin which had made a landfall near Gopalpur in October 2013.
Facilities like jet-ski rides, double side banana boat, band wagon, water zorbing, paddle boat, speed boat are available.
‘At present we can accommodate 50 to 100 people, Sudhakar Meriga of the water sports organization said.
He said they also planned to provide lifeguard by teaching life-saving skills to the local youth of the district to provide sustainable employment to them.
